S.W. Erdnase’s The Expert at the Card Table is one of the best books out there for aspiring magicians who want to work on their sleight of hand. Now, there’s a Kickstarter project from card expert Joe Crist and photographer Rosa Polin to republish the volume. Their version will include 101 photographs to help students understand the movements and positions. Crist’s introduction will also share the practice board, which until now has been a closely guarded industry secret for card mastery.

The project has already smashed its fundraising goal (it’s up to $28,000 and counting), but you can still contribute to secure a copy of the book. Pledge $200 for a copy of your own, or go even higher to add in signed prints of a photograph. If you miss the December 5 deadline, then you’ll still be able to buy the book on eBay for a projected price of $250 once it’s published. The pair is only planning to publish 300 copies, so if this sounds like a book you need in your life, act fast.
