“Talons,” get it? Like, birds. Owls in particular. I know, I’m a complete hoot.

PlayingCardDecks.com‘s Strigiformes: A Deck of Owls is an absolutely stunning, hand-illustrated deck limited to just 2,500 units. The deck’s Kickstarter has just about doubled its goal of $5,000 with a ten days left to go.

Each of the court cards and aces features a beautiful, mirrored illustration of an owl by American artist Renee LeCompte. The numbered cards all have custom edging and owl-themed pips. One of the jokers is Tawny Frogmouth owl: objectively the best type of owl.

The poker-sized deck will be printed by the United States Playing Card Company on classic stock with an air-cushion finish.

The Kickstarter for Strigiformes: A Deck of Owls ends on March 26th. The lowest tier that includes a deck is US$9 plus shipping. Unfortunately, the deck’s uncut sheets were sold out at the time of writing.
